a meta note on making stories of our days | + lists, links, recs <3
Dear ones,
The weeks have been so full lately. I sit down and think about what to write you, and there is so much I could expand on from any given day: the repercussions of settler storytelling I considered on Monday (more on that below actually); the nourishment of student discussions on abolition, and also a new writing group on Tuesday; the catching my breath on Wednesday which meant getting through a giant to-do list of admin and class prep and doctor stuff for me and for P; on Thursday: the panel discussion I was on that turned into a rousing discussion of power and Palestine, then later into a practical strategy session to support undocumented students; then Friday, back to the hospital for more cancer-related appointments, and then the day got swallowed with huge emotions that P and I didn’t know where to put. There is more I could share too: a student walkout; attending P’s delightful workshop at the writing center on speculative fiction and world building for social change; a rare night out dancing with aforementioned writing group friends; how the energy of the farmer’s market shifts in the fall; or I could explain why I went to a soundbath on Saturday, could tell you about the magic of it; and of course I always want to tell you about the leaves, how they are stunning and falling more now.
