Dear ones,
My post-surgery brain power is being spent on grading my students’ (wonderful!) papers, processing the plots of movies, remembering my pain med schedule, and healing open wounds. Thus, another short note today. But, links galore below! (I actually have done other reading besides grading, so lots of good articles to click, a bunch of movie-watching updates, a dreamy playlist, and my usual little gratitude list.)
Also! I’m lowering the price of the newsletter to $30/year! I’m treating it as a summer sale (so it’ll be through August), but there’s a chance I’ll keep it this way forever. Here’s the deal: when I turned on paid subscriptions a couple years ago, I swear to you the Substack buttons didn’t let me set it below $50. Maybe I missed something, but I assumed they set a new minimum (I knew some newsletters that had been on substack longer were lower than $50). Thankfully, beloved newsletter writer
just lowered her subscription cost which prompted me to investigate again. And for whatever reason, I’m able to set the price to $30 now. It feels great to make the paid version more accessible (though, as always, I give comp subscriptions to anyone who can’t afford it), and I’m hoping this will also be sustainable for me and my expenses. This is all to say: now is the time to become a paid subscriber! $30 to support my writing and get extra goodies every week. Either way, I’m so glad you’re here. <3
