Dear ones,
This will be a shorter note today, with some good and not-so-good updates.
The good news is, it seems like P has turned a real corner in healing. His energy levels are improving, he’s walking slightly longer distances, able to do some chores, and he’s back to making terrible jokes—a true sign that he’s getting back to his old self. We were even able to host a friend of his from across the pond for a night, and also went to a beautiful evening of poetry at the nature center. The Cuyahoga Valley National Park asked local writers to create a “poetic inventory” of regional plant and animal life and we got to hear from those who paid homage to brown bats, sassafras, wood ducks, and many others. It was a really beautiful evening; sitting outside amidst the trees to the sound of birdsong and potent phrasing really soothed the nervous system. <3
…And I needed a lot of nervous system soothing.
